Volunteer Spotlight

I haven’t recognized anyone in the Volunteer Spotlight in a while, so I’d like to take a chance and recognize someone.

Not everyone knows Tammy Brown and most people don’t know what she does within the Children’s Ministry. Besides being a teacher in our Mom’s Morning Out Program, Tammy volunteers each week to lead an early elementary small group. She builds relationship with these kids while teaching them the truth from the Bible about our various virtues. I know Tammy genuinely loves the kids that she teaches. She also serves monthly in our preschool class.

Tammy is full of energy and has a lot of love to give. She has been a blessing to our children’s ministry and to the families that she touches through her service.

Bible Buck Store

The Bible Buck Store will be open for the elementary kids on Sunday, January 27th. It will be stocked with new merchandise, so remind your kids to save up!

Bible Bucks can be obtained by: attendance, bringing Bible, bringing friends, leading worship, helping where needed, etc.

It’s a great motivator for the children to be more involved at church, and a great teaching tool on responsibility. Drop me a comment and let me know what kinds of things your child would like to see for sale!

January First Wednesday

Join us on the 9th for First Wednesday! We’ll enjoy a yummy dinner together with families before we break for programming for children and adults and teens. The kids will have winter fun playing wacky games and spending some time in worship. We’ll have a campfire in our room :-) and enjoy hot cocoa! Get your kids there for the fun!

What’s coming up in 2008?

I’ve been thinking about our plans for 2008 a bit lately. We have some big things this year for your family to look forward to:

* A HUGE Spring outreach event

* More events for you to invite your friends to – things like “Kids Night Out, Back to School Bash, Parties, etc.”

* Another Summer Slam event

* small groups on Sunday mornings to get closer to friends and learn more about God. You can ask the questions you’ve always wanted to ask with a leader who cares about you!

* Opportunities to serve in our community

* Large Group programs in The Clubhouse like you’ve never seen!

Stay tuned! You don’t want to miss this year!

I am so sorry!

I know I have left everyone hanging as far as this blog is concerned. I have been consumed with just getting done what needs to be done. I’m in a busy season and some things fall to the wayside – blogging has been one.

Anyways. Look forward to the posting of some SuperStart picures this week, information about our Mom’s Morning Out program, a sneak peek into 2008, and some awesome volunteers! I’m back!

Playground Update!

The playground is installed and it looks BEAUTIFUl! I can’t wait to see the kids as they get to play on it tomorrow and Sunday for the first time.

We haver a great opportunity for those who haven’t contributed toward the playground fund yet. A donor has stepped forward and said they’d match any gift given. We need approx. $3600 more to pay the balance on the playground. So now’s your chance for that money to stretch further.

And a HUGE thank you to all who have given to make this possible for our kids. It is greatly appreciated.

Fall Festival wrap up!

Woo Hoo! Fall Festival 2007 is done and gone. We had a great turn out. Between 500-600 people were there this year, about the same as last year.

We had a GREAT team of volunteers. I was afraid that we wouldn’t have enough help to staff it, but last minute (and a little guilt!) got us all the volunteers we needed. Thank you SO much Dutch Fork for doing your part for this great night for the community.

Next year we’re already looking at plans to do something different. Stretch our creativity a bit more. Revive the pep in Fall Festival. And to not be like every other church on the corner doing the same thing.

Fall Festival 2007 UPDATE

We are just about 1 week away from our annual Fall Festival. I am pretty excited this year. I will admit it has taken a bit longer for the excitement to build, maybe it’s the unusual warm weather or just life’s busyiness, but it has taken me a bit longer this year to get there. Now I am excited though and I want YOU to be excited too!

A week from tomorrow we will have a great pouring out of our community on our doorsteps. They come to us for safe family fun. Some are even looking for a church home. Over the years we have seen many families come to Dutch Fork due to our Fall Festival. They might not visit the next Sunday, but when they feel the pull to go to church, the remember the one that they went to that Fall Festival at. Or they remember us as the one that cares about families.

We are critical need of CANDY! We have about half of what we had last year.

We also could use more volunteers for games and Trunk or Treat. It’s not too late to sign up this Sunday and to stay after church for the quick meeting.

Meeting: Sunday immediately following service All those helping with Fall Festival.

Get ready everyone to have fun!!! It’s a great opportunity to bring your ffriends and family to and also to serve at as a way of demonstrating love.

I’m back!

I know. I have been slack about updating this thing, I’ve been busy gearing up for our Fall Festival and hiring two new teachers for our Mom’s Morning Out program. But enough excuses!

Look forward to some posts about our upcoming events…
